New Year's Eve Party

If you are thinking of getting together with a few friends to see in the New Year why don't you turn it into an intimate party to make it an extra special evening. Here's a little inspiration for an elegant soiree. Pick a couple of theme colours - silver and gold are a perfect choice for New Year's Eve and throw together a bit of a buffet style dessert bar to get your guests in the party mood. Serve up some stylish finger food and stock up on French champagne, sparklers, party poppers and your party will bound to be a big success!

Have a safe and happy New Year!!!

Lavender Blues

I love this pop of lavender - it gives these rooms such a fresh summery feel and the splash of colour is really uplifting even if it's as simple as a scatter cushion or a bunch of flowers!

Vintage Style

I love a few vintages pieces around the house to add some character and charm to a place. If it tells a story or has a sense of history then even better! If everything is brand new and perfectly matched, a house can lack soul. Simply by adding a few antiques or some quirky vintage finds a home can suddenly come to life. I've seen some amazing pieces at markets, antique shops and garage sales over the years including old fashioned wooden school desks, old singer sewing machines (like my grandma used to have) and one of my favourite finds are vintage calico dress mannequins like the ones above.

Berry Ripe

One of the best things about summer is the fact that berries are in season, I love them all but strawberries, raspberries and blueberries are my favourites. Stunning layered on top of a pavlova and dusted in icing sugar, heavenly on their own with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream, delicious when sprinkled on breakfast pancakes or cereal and perfect as a garnish! How do you like your berries?

Country Cottage Blues

I love the old fashioned touch of blue to this rustic, country house. The bed with the homemade patchwork quilts look cosy and inviting and there's nothing better than hand picked flowers from the garden. The blue and white painted striped floorboards add a touch of whimsy to this cute cottage.

Porch Stories

I hope everyone is recovering nicely from Christmas Day relaxing on the porch or the veranda letting all that turkey and Christmas pudding digest! For most, it's a day to kick back and relax, sort out all of those Christmas presents, put some order back in the house and finish off the leftovers. I have another big family party to attend so I won't get a chance to unwind until tomorrow. Wish me luck with another big day of eating!

A Traditional Christmas

Thursday, December 22, 2011 0 comments

Reveal in the warmth and exuberance of a classic country setting where santa red and mistletoe green fill the house with a sense of tradition. Smell the scent of the fresh pine needles from the Christmas tree, warm spices wafting from the kitchen and the delicious aromas of Christmas puddings bubbling on the stove top and turkey roasting in the oven. Hear the sounds of children laughing, dogs barking and if you close your eyes you may even hear the sound of the sleigh bells ringing!
