Apple Green Fresh

Sunday, May 27, 2012 0 comments

I am loving this fresh palette of white and apple green - there's nothing better than biting into a crisp, sweet, juicy Granny Smith apple. I get the same joy when I see a white decor scheme with fresh green accents. It reminds me of Spring and if you are surrounded by gardens it helps bring the outside in. I have also had the pleasure of tasting apple sorbet - perfectly refreshing on a hot summer's day and I love tossing finely sliced apples into a summer salad.

Happy Monday!

Wholesome Goodness

Fresh and seasonal

The foods you eat shouldn't be dictated by whether the make you fat or thin,
but by the goodness you get out of each bite.

I always try to eat produce that is in season.
When it comes down to it, if it's recently fallen from the tree or plucked from the ground,
I know it's better for me and my family.

Cosy Up

I love Autumn, there's something very comforting about :-

a glass off red in front of an open fire,
home baked fruit pies warm from the oven,
brisk walks with a cosy scarf
and kicking autumn leaves in a pair of gumboots!

Healthy Living

Wednesday, April 18, 2012 0 comments

One of the thing that attracts me most about country life is the healthy lifestyle and good wholesome food. I love the idea of fresh vegies picked straight from the vegie patch and fruit picked straight from the tree. I would love to have a whole orchard of fruit trees. On the top of my list would be a lemon tree along with apricots, plums, nectarines, peaches and apples. Thinks of all the pies and jams I could make! I would also have chickens so that every morning I would wake up to freshly laid eggs!

Falling For Autumn

Tuesday, April 10, 2012 0 comments

The leaves have started falling from the trees and as you walk through
the park they crunch underfoot.
My thoughts are slowly turning towards
cosy fires, home made soup, warm coats, scarves and winter gloves.

Dreaming Of A Country Life

Monday, March 26, 2012 0 comments

Here are a few of my favourite things that have always attracted me about
life in the country:-
natural beauty and healthy living
old houses with charm and character
furniture with the soft patina of age and time
vintage pieces and pre-loved antiques
natural fabrics and soft, faded colours
home cooked food bursting with goodness
a garden full of flowers and fruit ripe for the picking
an abundance of fresh air
and the promise of a slower paced life!

Breakfast in Bed

Saturday, December 17, 2011 0 comments

This morning I had a long and leisurely breakfast in bed with the sun streaming through the window and the birds chirping madly in the background. I am obsessed with porridge at the moment so I had a hot bowl of porridge with brown sugar - a prefect start to a healthy day. I flicked through my Donna Hay Christmas editions looking for some inspiration for clever ideas to whip up on Christmas day. It was a truly relaxing way to begin the day! Happy Sunday!

Apple Season

Sunday, November 6, 2011 0 comments

As the days grown shorter and a chill sets in the air my thoughts wander to 'old school' classic recipes like the ones my grandma used to make. I start thumbing through my old cookbooks looking for family favourites such as chocolate pudding, lemon delicious and apple crumble. In fact I love any dessert with apples in it and nothing tastes better than when it's made with apples picked straight from the tree! Serve them all up with homemade custard and lashings of cream and you'll be sure to have a winner!
