Garden Rose Party

Today is sunny and gorgeous - a perfect day for Sunday lunch alfresco. This elegant brunch in rose pink is sophisticated yet relaxed with some unexpected twists. The setting combines formal elements with casual style and quirky touches. Vintage Chinese floral plates mix effortlessly with rose tinted crystal and coloured linen napkins. Toparies and simple, mixed blooms arranged in tin garden pots make for an enchanting centre piece running the length of the table. Dining chairs with hand-painted silk upholstery move outdoors to add a sense of grandeur to the scene. Iced tea quench thirsty guests and everyone is treated to a goodie bag to remind them of a perfect afternoon!

I am a huge fan of the dessert bar. A table laden with colour co-ordinated treats and home baked goodies is a visual feat that few can resist! With a little bit of planning and an eye for detail even the most reluctant of hostesses can throw together a dessert bar without too much effort. This clever

Vintage Style Party

I am looking forward to the weekend and I've been looking out for some inspiration for having the in-laws over for afternoon tea. This vintage style tea party with it's dainty china teacups in pastel shades is as pretty as a picture. What a tempting array of treats from iced cookies to frosted cupcakes and mini lemon merignue pies! The country style trestle table adds a nice rustic touch as do the delicate single blooms in assorted jars and vases. It's a table setting full of character and old fashioned country charm!

Get Creative

I am loving these creative outdoor entertaining spaces. Sometimes we need to think outside the square and get a little creative. With all of this warm sunny weather we have been having lately - it's the perfect opportunity to entertain outside. I love the idea of the outdoor room complete with chaises, ottomans and daybeds piled up with bright printed cushions. Finish it off with a colourful umbrella or shade cloth and you will be set for a perfect afternoon!

If you are thinking of getting together with a few friends to see in the New Year why don't you turn it into an intimate party to make it an extra special evening. Here's a little inspiration for an elegant soiree. Pick a couple of theme colours - silver and gold are a perfect choice for New Year's Eve and throw together a bit of a buffet style dessert bar to get your guests in the party mood. Serve up some stylish finger food and stock up on French champagne, sparklers, party poppers and your party will bound to be a big success!

Have a safe and happy New Year!!!

A Christmas Dessert Bar

Friday, December 9, 2011 0 comments

Make your Christmas extra special this year but putting on a dessert bar - it is sure to be a huge hit ... and not just with the little kids!!! I'm thinking it may even be easier than it looks. Keep it simple pick two colours to match your Christmas theme. Throw a table cloth over a trestle table so it covers all the legs. I made my own using white damask from Spotlight. Arrange a collection of white platters, glass jars and cake stands and away you go! Fill up jars with color coordinated sweets, arrange cakes and pastries on the plates, print off some cute labels and voila you've created a masterpiece! If you are time poor like the rest of us take advantage of fabulous store bought goodies and cut down all the baking time and kitchen mess!
