 Escape to St Remy en Provence

Remodeled by Parisian interior designer Joelle Pléot, this one-story summer house is located in St Remy en Provence, Southern France. I love the touches of the raspberry and lime - it adds an unexpected pop of colour to this rustic cottage.  The house plan is organized so that every room communicates with the outside... wine and cheese anyone?

Vanilla Cream

 

 

  

This is one of favourite decorating styles - anything French will do it for me - particularly in a palette of whites, creams and beiges. Throw in some antiques, a vintage chandelier, a dressmaker's mannequin, add a touch of  shabby chic and I'm in heaven. I am also in love with the high ceilings, the French Oak parquetry floors, the free standing bath and that divine Louis bed!

Antique Rustic Charm

I never tire of the beauty of French antiques or Provincial charm. I love decorating in this style and always have great fun in sourcing the pieces. I have a few favourite Antique shops that specialise in this look importing huge container loads from the South of France. And for more budget minded clients there are plenty of good reproductions around that give you the look without the hefty price tag!

A Weekend In Provence

Here's a little mid week escape - I could happily be here right now, bathed in sunshine and warmth, sitting in a scented garden filled with lavender and rambling roses. Lunch would be alfresco :- crusty bread, olives, local cheese and thinly sliced prosciutto served with a class of sparkling Prosecco. Could anything be more perfect?

Simple Pleasures

The simple pleasures in life for me are:-

long, relaxing baths with scented bath salts

a beautiful home cooked meal,

sunshine and green grass

a comfortable bed

fresh flowers.

Provincial Living

 

As an interior designer, I love decorating in the French Provincial style. I like the mix of easy elegance and rustic charm. I like things that have a timeless, pre-loved feel about them - nothing too new and shiny. I think pieces that are bit worn and frayed around the edges have added character and personality. I love the look of old stone, recycled timbers and antique furniture. I love the feel of natural fibres like hemp, cotton and linen in earthy tones such as beige, bone, cream and taupe. These colours all come into their own when mixed back with lots of white.
